Re-scheduled City Council Meeting for Thursday, November 16, 2023 (Posted November 9, 2023)

As announced yesterday, November 8, 2023, the regular City Council Meeting scheduled for November 9, 2023, was cancelled due to a lack of quorum. In order for the City Council to hold a meeting, a minimum of three council members must be present. A lack of quorum results in no possibility of action on items listed on the agenda.

Prior to cancellation, two council members had notified me that they would not be able to attend the meeting. Unfortunately, a third council member informed me Wednesday afternoon that they would not be able to attend due to a family emergency, resulting in a lack of quorum.

The re-scheduled meeting is now classified as a Special Meeting and will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 6:00pm. Special meetings require a minimum of four council members, and at this time, we have confirmation that the required council members will be in attendance.

Please check the City of Jamaica Beach website after 6:00pm on Monday for the Agenda.

Tragedy has hit our village once again. On Sunday afternoon, a house on Flamingo Way caught fire and there was one casualty.  I would like to thank JBVFD, JBPD and the Galveston FD for their immediate response to this heartbreaking event. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all.  Mayor Sharon Bower
