Jamaica Beach Police Department

The Jamaica Beach Police Department was established by City Council in 1978. The first police chief was the only employee, on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and most of the dispatching was done by volunteers. Today, a chief, a lieutenant, and police officers staff the department, and the dispatching is contracted to the Galveston County Sheriff's Department.

The Jamaica Beach Police Department provides 24 hour patrolling of our streets and a marine division for our canals. Our well-staffed, well-equipped department has given Jamaica Beach the reputation of one of the safest areas to live in Galveston County.
