Software Platform for Short-Term Rental Management

  • The City of Jamaica Beach has implemented a software platform, specifically Granicus/Host Compliance, to streamline the registration process for short-term rentals and facilitate the collection of Hotel Occupancy Tax.
  • This software solution aims to enhance efficiency for city staff and promote better compliance within the community.
  • The software effectively gathers data from over 70 rental websites, enabling it to identify both registered and unregistered short-term rental properties.
  • This information allows Jamaica Beach to assess the level of rental activity and take appropriate measures in accordance with City Ordinances concerning Short-Term Rentals and Hotel Occupancy Taxes.
  • Thanks to the software's data analysis capabilities, more than 50 properties have been identified as non-compliant.
  • It is important to note that violating this ordinance constitutes a Class C Misdemeanor offense.  Upon conviction, individuals may be subject to a fine of up to five hundred dollars ($500) per offense, with each day of non-compliance considered a separate offense.
