Garbage & Recycling
Let’s keep our village free of trash and litter by deterring animals and birds from accessing the trash contents.
Garbage
- Garbage is picked up on Mondays and Thursdays.
- No visible white trash bags.
- All white trash bags should be placed in a securely sealed trash container.
- Black plastic bags are permissible to be left outside of a trash container if they have adequate thickness to resist damage by animals and birds.
- Each container or black bag should not exceed a size of 64 gallons or a weight of 50 pounds.
- A maximum of four trash containers can be placed out for collection on each designated collection day.
- Example: Two trash containers and two black trash bags.
- All plant material must be cut and bundled so as not to exceed 5 feet in length and 50 pounds in weight.
- Large items can be disposed of on Thursdays. You must call AmeriWaste at 281-331-8400 by Wednesday to schedule your pick up.
Recycling
- Curbside recycling is available for those who are interested.
- Every residence is eligible for the recycling program; stop by City Hall to register.
- Your bin with recyclables should be placed at the curb by 7:00 am. each Monday, alongside your regular trash.
- Please follow the guidelines below when preparing your items for recycling.
- Improperly prepared materials will be rejected.
Recycling Guidelines:
- Newspapers - tie with string or place in brown paper bag under recycling bin. DO NOT include magazines, waxed paper, etc.
- Aluminum Cans - cans should empty and rinsed clean.
- Plastic Bottles - should be a #1 or #2 plastic, such as soda bottles and milk jugs; caps should be removed and bottles should be rinsed.
- Tin/Bi-Metal Containers - containers such as vegetable and soup cans should be rinsed clean; lids should be removed and placed inside, with the opening "pinched closed".
